Description: Deserted amusement parks can be creepy enough, but at Pripyat Amusement Park, in the ghost town of Pripyat, Ukraine, the reason for abandonment makes the place not only creepy, but hazardous. The 1986 nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant closed down the plant and caused the evacuation of the entire city, rendering this amusement park useless. While the people have long since departed, the radiation remains.
Description: No Rolling Acres........Thank You! Rolling Acres mall opened in Akron, Ohio with Sears and 21 stores on August 6, 1975. JCPenney opened a year later as a second anchor. A new wing was added in 1977, including a third anchor store, Montgomery Ward. Further expansion in 1978 added a new, two-story wing called the Promenade, which included a food court called “Prom-N-Eat” (later renamed “Picnic Place”) and local chain O’Neil’s as a fourth anchor. The mall was foreclosed in June 2016. As of October 2016, demolition of the mall had begun with full demolition on the property expected to be complete by October 2017.

Description: The Salton Sea is the largest lake in California by surface area, and its very existence is a total accident. In 1905, flooding caused the Colorado River to spill over the man-made irrigation canals to pour into what was then known as the Salton Sink – a 40-mile-long dry desert basin. It took two years to stop the flooding, during which the Salton Sink had filled up and formed the Salton Sea. it didn’t take long before people began flocking to this desert oasis as a weekend getaway to picnic and play in the lake.
