Their first release (following two singles released under the label name Carnival Records (4)) was "The Lonely Bull" by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, which sold around 700,000 copies.
Description: Atlanta's first psychedelic radio station initially featured psychedelic music for just two hours each weeknight, while broadcasting it full-time on weekends. Before long, the psychedelic format attracted more listeners than the station's regular programming, prompting the station to switch to a full-time psychedelic format.

Description: American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres formed a records division, incorporating the Am-Par Record Corporation on June 14, 1955 with Samuel H. Clark as its first president. By August 1955, the unit was organized with AMPCO (ASCAP) and PAMCO (BMI) as subsidiary publishing units. Though the record label was established as Am-Par, no records were released until after the division's name was changed to ABC-Paramount in September 1955.
