Voting is important, and the presidential election of 1860 was no different as we saw Republican Abraham Lincoln defeat Southern Democrat John C. Breckinridge, Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, and Constitutional Union candidate John Bell. The electoral split between Northern and Southern Democrats was emblematic of the severe sectional split, and in the months following Lincoln’s election (and before his inauguration in March 1861) seven Southern states, led by South Carolina on December 20, 1860, seceded, setting the stage for the American Civil War the following year. To the polls, ye sons of freedom!

Inspired by Lee Greenwood's lyrics. This design is about the enduring notion that the flag of the United States has and still does represent the Ideals of Freedom and Liberty. This is true not only for Americans but also for countless people throughout the world and history who have looked to Old Glory as a beacon of hope that these ideals may not perish but flourish in our world.

Paul Revere was an American silversmith, patriot, and a prominent figure in the American Revolution. He is best known for his famous "midnight ride" on April 18, 1775, during which he alerted the colonial militia about the movements of British troops, particularly the approaching British Army's expedition to Lexington and Concord.

In honor of the 245th anniversary of her 40 mile ride through the New York countryside, I have updated one of the very first designs I ever uploaded.
