Description: The 3rd Armored Division ("Spearhead") was an armored division of the United States Army. Unofficially nicknamed the "Third Herd," the division was first activated in 1941, and was active in the European Theater of World War II. The division was stationed in West Germany for much of the Cold War, and participated in the Cat Gulf War. On 17 January 1992, in Germany, the division ceased operations. In October 1992 it was formally inactivated as part of a general drawing down of forces at the end of the Cold War.
Description: The majority of the 2nd Armored Divisio was based at Fort Hood Texas. The division remained on active service during the Cold War. Its primary mission was to prepare to conduct heavy armored combat against Warsaw Pact forces in defense of NATO. The division formed a key component of the U.S. military's plan to move 'ten divisions in ten days" to Europe in the event of a Soviet threat to NATO. The division practiced this task numerous times during Exercise Reforger from 1967 to 1988. To build and maintain combat skills, the division's maneuver brigades deployed almost annually to the National Training Center to face an opposing force modeling Soviet military weapons and tactics.

Description: The 6th Armored Division ("Super Sixth") was an armored division of the United States Army during World War II. It was formed with a cadre from the 2nd Armored Division. 6th AD was formed under the 1942 Table of Organization and Equipment. Description: In 1975, the 2nd Armored Division's third brigade forward deployed to West Germany and was assigned to NATO's Northern Army Group (NORTHAG). The brigade received additional aviation, engineer, military intelligence, medical, and logistics support units and was reflagged as the 2nd Armored Division (Forward). Description: The 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles") is a modular specialized light infantry division of the United States Army trained for air assault operations. Description: The 5th Armored Division ("Victory"[1]) was an armored formation of the United States Army active from 1941 to 1945 and from 1950 to 1956. The 5th Armored "Victory" Division was activated on 10 October 1941, and reached the United Kingdom in February 1944. The division landed at Utah Beach on 24 July 1944 under the command of Major General Lunsford E.
