The Lobster Pot was one of Blackpool's finest restaurants for decades and was alleged to be haunted. Ghosts aside, the restaurant was famous for its seafood with a menu that wasn't your typical English seaside fare. Upscale dishes like lobster thermidor and potted shrimps would be served with a pot of tea and a plate of buttered bread. The establishment was popular with locals and tourists alike, with many folks making a point to stop by Blackpool just for a chance to dine at The Lobster Pot before continuing on with their travels.

Vintage British Travel Poster: Blackpool, the Gorgeous Sights

Opened in 1885 and running on the Lancashire coast, the Blackpool tramway is one of the oldest in the world, and the only heritage tramway in the UK to survive to the present day. The tramway stretches from the beachfront resort town of Blackpool, to Fleetwood in the North. These Flexity 2 trams arrived on the line in 2012, although are still complemented in service by heritage tramcars, including the emblematic double-decker balloon trams.

Blackpool has been famous for many years for it's illuminations and it's cheap and cheerful seaside fun, but recently it has become the home of some of the best graffiti artworks in the UK. Every summer, for the last 3 years there is a festival called Sun, sea, sand and spray where famous graffiti artists are invited from around UK and Europe to come and paint their artwork in various locations around the town. They paint on the sides of old buildings, on the walls of open air carparks and on specially placed canvasses and the work is so good it attracts visitors from far and wide. Big Trouble in Little China (also known as John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China) is a 1986 American fantasy martial arts action-comedy film directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell, Kim Cattrall, Dennis Dun and James Hong. The film tells the story of truck driver Jack Burton (Russell), who helps his friend Wang Chi (Dun) rescue Wang's green-eyed fiancée from bandits in San Francisco's Chinatown. They go into the mysterious underworld beneath Chinatown, where they face an ancient sorcerer named David Lo Pan (Hong), who requires a woman with green eyes to marry him in order to release him from a centuries-old curse.

Blackpool Tower Portrait, May 2019 One of Britain’s best loved landmarks, Blackpool Tower opened in 1894, and this year celebrates its 125th anniversary. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the tower is 518 feet (158 metres) tall. It was designed by two Lancashire architects, James Maxwell and Charles Tuke, who, despite overseeing the laying of the foundation stone, sadly both died before the tower was completed. Over 3,500 tonnes of steel were used in its construction, along with 5 million Accrington bricks for the Tower buildings. The original admission charge was sixpence (6d), with a further 6d for the lift to the top, and another 6d for admission to the circus.
