By the late ’60s, Champ decided to play up sharing a name with the mythical creature said to inhabit Lake Champlain and added a drawing of Champ (or Champy) to his signage and packaging and the rest, as they say, is history. Champ’s folklore can be traced back to Iroquois legends.
