I find the corvids, quite striking, I don't know why they seem to get such bad press and deemed as bad omens just because of their all black colour... the jackdaws have beautiful blue eyes and the ravens very stunningly sharp sleek looking beaks... The Celtic peoples strongly associated corvids with war, death and the battlefield - due to their scavenging on a carrion diet - but without them we would be fighting more environmental battles - as they help to keep our farmlands and woodland free of disease and strengthen the gene pool by weeding out weak prey items.

The American crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) is a large passerine bird species of the family Corvidae. It is a common bird found throughout much of North America. American crows are the New World counterpart to the carrion crow and the hooded crow. Although the American crow and the hooded crow are very similar in size, structure and behavior, their calls and visual appearance are different.

I have noticed more and more Eurasian Jackdaws / Kavka obecná (Corvus monedula) in Prague over the past few years. They are amazingly smart, stunning looking and have the most beautiful blue/ grey eyes. See them here with Foxgloves, Bluebells, Ivy and moon and stars.
