The Grand Teton Mountain Range is a spectacular mountain range located in the state of Wyoming, United States. The range is part of the larger Rocky Mountains system and is characterized by its steep, jagged peaks, glacial valleys, and pristine alpine lakes. The range is named after its tallest peak, the Grand Teton, which rises to an elevation of 13,775 feet (4,199 meters) above sea level.

Taken in June at the start of the Arctic Summer on Svalbard, the snow on the mountains around Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen has started to melt and much of the surrounding ground is now covered in melted snow and ice water. Silence and a cloudless sky create a sense of solitude and isolation in this unforgiving and rugged Arctic landscape. All I can think of when I see this photo is how cold my feet were when I took it! I decided not to inundate my boots, so instead waded into the glacial Matukituki River barefoot. The pins and needles had me dancing on the bank for minutes afterward!

There's a great hike to take if you visit Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, but it's not to Lake Louise. High to the right of the lake resides a hidden, hanging valley that contains the beautiful Lake Agnes. Your climb up to the lake is rewarded by not only the view but also the wonderful tea house that's located there. There's no road to the tea house, and the staff bring up everything that is needed each day in backpacks. However, they do offer a wonderful selection of teas. Now more about the image. It was captured in the late afternoon, the Sun had already set in the valley, so the view was infused with the soft blue light from the deep blue sky. All was calm, not a ripple on the lake, and the view of the mountains was spectacular.

Not far from where the gigantically-wheeled Ice Explorer bus stops on the Athabasca Glacier is this rapidly running river. Apparently, there never used to be running water on top of the glacier, but now there is so much melted ice running below the glacier that this water had nowhere else to go. It made for a gorgeous -- but sad -- sight.

This is a view of Moraine Lake, in Banff National Park, Alberta. To say that the scenery is stunning would be an understatement, it is out of this world, fabulous. So much so, that at one time this scene was featured on the back of the $20 Canadian bill. Time has moved on and the design of the bill has changed but Moraine Lake remains just as beautiful.
