Heavy Metal Magnets
Description: This stunning visual homage to Sunn O))) captures the cosmic weight and apocalyptic density of their drone-doom sound. A massive black monolithic tower, etched with labyrinthine circuitry and occult architecture, rises above a mountain of shrouded corpses and bleached skulls. Birds scatter through the oppressive skyline as concentric soundwaves ripple from behind, evoking the band’s iconic amplified drone frequencies. The geometry is cold, sacred, and decaying—suggesting an altar to entropy, a skyscraper of ruin, a sermon of decay. Framed in high-contrast black and white with the band’s unmistakable red logo, this piece visually translates sound into architecture, tone into ritual.
Description: Grim Reaper was a heavy metal band formed in Droitwich, England in 1979. They were discovered after winning a Battle of the Bands contest with over 100 acts, and eventually signed to Ebony Records, with a track on the Ebony compilation, “Heavy Metal Heroes.” Their debut album “See You in Hell” was released in '83 on Ebony and was well received. Their '85 follow-up, “Fear No Evil,” enjoyed moderate success in both the United States and Europe, giving the band considerably more exposure. In the summer of '85, the band appeared at the long-running Texxas Jam Festival, playing to over 80,000 people. Legal battles with Ebony Records delayed the release of the band's third album, "Rock You to Hell" by almost two years.
