The fells around the Duddon Valley are little walked by the masses. One of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District is criss-crossed with paths, but these tracks belong to the sheep. A beautiful place to explore and some wonderful sights to discover. Here the gateway opens to Ulpha Fell and in the distance The Pike O' Blisco.

This early last century image shows us what you could expect if you were to go holidaying in the English Lakelands. The middle of the image is taken up by a man and a women, it seems the man is pointing at something while the women takes it all in through the binoculars. I think they are bird spotting but judging by the area it could be any outdoorsman activity, a naturists paradise.

Tarn Hows is a picturesque tarn located in the Lake District of England, close to Hawkshead and Coniston. The tarn itself is fed by run off from a series of valley and basin mires at its north end, drawing out via Tom Gill and a number of small waterfalls to Glen Mary Bridge. Canon 5d Mk3 16-35 L

A tree that has succumb to old age overlooking Rydal Water in the Lake District. Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes at only 3/4 of a mile long and 1/4 mile wide.

Angle Tarn is a small mountain lake in Cumbria, situated in The Lake District, on the Angletarn Pikes walk, near to Ullswater and about a mile north east of Hartsop.

Stockley Bridge is an old packhorse bridge over Grains Gill in The Borrowdale Valley of The Lake District. Built is the 18th Century, originally of slate, it was a favourite subject for artists to sketch. It was washed away in 1966 and re-built with a larger span.

The 17th Century Bridge House over Stock Ghyll (a tributary of the River Rothay) is one of the most photographed scenes in Lakeland, and is now a shop and information centre for the National Trust. Hard to believe that a family with 6 kids used to live there. Ambleside, a lovely little town, with oodles of charm, has become a major tourist resort in the Lake District of England.
