Mill Creek Falls is a 20' drop on Mill Creek, near Ansted West Virginia .Fayette County WV There are numerous drops on Mill Creek as it makes it way down into the New River gorge, but this is the most significant. The waterfall is located about midway along a rail trail that leads from Ansted to the Hawks Nest State Park Marina. From either end of the trail, it is about a mile hike to the falls. The trail leads to the brink of the falls. Getting into the gorge for a better view is not easy. This is also true if you drive to the falls along Hawks Nest Road, with the added difficulty that you have to find some place to park your car on the narrow road. Lanterman's Mill was built in 1845-46 by German Lanterman and Samuel Kimberly. It was Restored in 1982-85 and operates today as it did in the 1800s, grinding corn, wheat, and buckwheat.

The Bridgeton Mill and Covered Bridge are historic structures in Parke County, Indiana. The site features a picturesque covered bridge, which was built in 1868 and is one of the oldest remaining covered bridges in the state. Next to the bridge is Bridgeton Mill, a historic grist mill that dates back to 1823.

I've lived near the New forest for around 25 years now, yet only this year, on a lockdown cycle ride did I discover the tranquil little inlet of Ashlett Creek. You can find it just behind Fawley oil refinery, yet you can see, hear and smell nothing of it. The narrow channel leads out to the busy shipping lane of Southampton Water, so there is just a glimpse of container ships, the isle of wight ferry and other large boats passing. The large building is an old tide mill. Out of shot, to the left is a pub - shut at present due to lockdown. I've painted this version in oil on a 16 x 12 inch board.

It is located approximately 20 miles away from the New River Gorge Bridge. Located near the park headquarters, the Glade Creek Grist Mill is commonly photographed. It was named in honor of Edward V. Babcock. Completed in 1976 by combining parts of three other West Virginia mills, it is a replica of the original Cooper’s Mill that was located nearby. The park’s web site describes the Glade Creek Grist Mill as a living, working monument to the more than 500 mills that used to be located throughout the state.
