Marvin 'Marv' Heemeyer had been in the muffler business since the late '70s, and after running a successful muffler shop in Boulder, Colorado for many years, he decided he wanted to a more rural lifestyle. In March 1992, Marv sold his shop in Boulder and purchased a 27-acre plot of land in neighboring Grand County with a small cabin on it. In nearby Granby, he picked up a two acre property and opened Mountain View Muffler in the Summer of 1992. Heemeyer's expertise in muffler repair earned him the nickname "Marv the Muffler Man," and he was said to be so good at his trade that he could change a muffler in 20 minutes flat. Sadly, Granby was less than welcoming, and Marv faced an uphill battle in a town that stacked the deck against him.

If you've been around the Southern California hot rod scene for a while, you're probably familiar with Rocket Muffler, the Burbank shop that spent several decades doing custom exhaust work for drag, dry lake, and street racers alike. Their business cards advertised "Racket by Rocket" which was probably a hint to the kind of work they did in squeezing out just a little more horsepower out of V8 engines in exchange for a little noise. In addition to sponsoring numerous local SoCal racers in the '50s and '60s, they also kept a sign out front of their shop on West Magnolia Boulevard offering free welding repairs on kid's toys, wagons, and bikes. Talk about community service!

This design is for Christmas 2022. There are many designs for Christmas. One of them is a snowman with an iconic Christmas hat and muffler. Here you will find that the invention also adds some cherries and starts.

Sandy Belond was a Southern California hot rodder and one of the first dry lakes racers to go over 100 mph. He opened Sandy’s Muffler Shop in 1938 and aside from traditional exhaust work, Sandy began designing and building custom headers and exhaust systems that quickly became a popular on the local hot rod scene. After a short stint in the Marines towards the end of the war, Sandy was ready to get back to work and founded Southern California Muffler Service. Aside from continuing his custom work, Sandy developed his Equa-Flow line of off the rack exhaust systems. This line revolutionized the industry by utilizing the first ever jigs for exhaust systems that ensured each model was true and accurate to the vehicle it was designed for.
