Mutual Aid is our core belief. We wanted to create a design that would help people spread the word -- we can all have what we need; we just need to help each other.

We think there is beauty in MUTUAL AID.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program. The principle refers to free access to and distribution of goods, capital and services. In the Marxist view, such an arrangement will be made possible by the abundance of goods and services that a developed communist system will be capable to produce; the idea is that, with the full development of socialism and unfettered productive forces, there will be enough to satisfy everyone's needs.

Show your support for the working class and everyone who is threatened by the rise of fascism. Only through cooperation and solidarity with all marginalized groups and exploited workers can the popular left movement defeat the system that oppresses us all.

Some people think "Let's get this bread" represents the daily grind. But it originated with the French Revolution. On July 14, 1789 (Bastille Day), French workers and common people chanted, “Allons chercher ce pain” -- “let us go get this bread." For us, this phrase means the philosophy of Mutual Aid -- that if we all help each other and work together, no one has to starve. We've pictured anarchist philosopher Peter Kroptkin saying this phrase.

According to the IWW: The Black Cat -- traditionally drawn as angry with claws bared, arched back, and a brushy tail (pictured, right) -- has long been one of the symbols of the IWW. It was probably conceived by IWW member Ralph Chaplin (most famous for penning the IWW / labor anthem "Solidarity Forever"), who produced many of the IWW's early "slient agitator" graphics which -- themselves -- had a close association with hobo signs. We like to combine anarchist symbols and quotes with the visual art of anarchists like William Morris. Our goal is to create beautiful and accessible ways to approach the philosophy of Mutual Aid.
