The magnificent Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains, this time in black & white. As much as I love colour, I thought I'd give this beauty a go in monochrome. This view is on the track known as the National Pass & takes you from the Valley of the Waters all the way around to the huge waterfall which the suburb is named after. The second in the series of that beautiful waterfall near Bridal Veil Falls at Leura. I gave it a different name so that people wouldn't confuse it with the original. Possibly Weeping Rock or Lurinda or Lurline Falls. The jury is still out on that one. I think this is my favourite of all the shots I took of these falls. I thought the froth in the water added a nice touch to this scene. This is in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. Photographed with a Canon 400D, ISO400, F22, 1.6 seconds , RAW Mode. This is the famous Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. This is the view as you approach the falls from above. After hundreds of shots of Sylvia Falls I thought I had photographed it from every angle but this view looked so nice with the ferns & orange coloured rocks that it begged to be photographed. The walking track starts from the Valley of the Waters at a place called Wentworth Falls. This couple slid down a large to reach a platform that had a better view of the valley. I didn't follow them because of a large backpack & tripod. Going down would have been easy but coming up would have required some help. I'm not sure how precarious the platform was but it looked a bit dangerous from where I was. There is a misty flow of water coming down from the cliff on the right hand side of this photo. I left a large chunk of cliff in the photo to give a sense of scale with the people on the platform. The trail is half way down into the valley. I also like how the relatively spindly tree growing out of the rocks makes the people look small & takes centre stage in the scene. Our cabin for the weekend at Big River Caravan Park on the Clarence River near Grafton, NSW. That feeling of amazement when you look up and can see the Milky Way with the naked eye will never get old.

I was impressed by this statue in Bisley Gardens title 'Motherly Love' featuring a mother lovingly holding two children. I wasn't able to fit the children into the frame as well as the garden, so settled for this shot showing her loving face & some of the garden. Although it doesn't show a lot of the garden & it's features, I love the look on her face with the lush green background. My apologies for not writing down the name of the sculptor. An Australian native flower found at Lawson the other day. Epacris pulchella or Wallum Heath. Epacris....from Greek, epi, upon and acris, a summit, referring to the altitude where some species occur pulchella..... From Latin pulchellus, pretty or beautiful, referring to the appearance of the plant. Found in heath and open forests on the coast and adjacent ranges of New South Wales and south-east Queensland. This is the view of the Three Sisters at Katoomba if you climb down the Furber stairs or take the Scenic Railway or Skyway down into the Jamison Valley. I haven't seen this view before & thought the overhanging leaves gave the view a nice touch. At this spot 2.8 kms of boardwalk give you easy access to a fascinating rainforest area with mining relics. This is the Blue Mountains National Park in NSW, Australia. Looking at this amazing view near Belmore Falls in the Southern Highlands made me appreciate how lucky we are in Oz to have such beautiful scenery. This is a 3 vertical photo stitch of photos taken from the lookout. I tried a 2 horizontal photo stitch but preferred this one. Lots of sunshine but few dark shadows .. perfect !!
