Let It Snow Sleepy Snowman.

I was at the Brazos Summit in the San Juan Mountain range of northern New Mexico taking in the expansive views when my eyes moved to all the wildflowers. I walked over to get some close up shots of the flowers when I spotted this black and white moth. The first IDs generated by Google were that of a "Wild Forget-Me-Not Moth" but the range was wrong. Cactus in the Tree - Flood 2010 - Bentsen Rio State Park by Debra Martz I shot this image back in January 2017 while hiking the trails at Bentson-Rio State Park in southern Texas, thinking it was kind of odd seeing cactus high up in the tree. On a return trip to the park in March 2017, I took a tram ride and the driver stopped and pointed out that very cactus. She explained how the landscape was completely changed by the flood of 2010 and the cactus not only showed how high the waters were but that was the only cactus left in the park in the aftermath. Flowing Red River of Northern New Mexico by Debra Martz The Red River of New Mexico is a short river which flows from the highest peak in New Mexico, Mount Wheeler at 13,161', in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It flows west through the town of Red River, near Questa and then south where it converges with the Rio Grande. With a little diversion off the Red River the Carson National Forest Service created Eagle Rock Lake between Red River and Questa, NM on Hwy 38. Bear Crossing trail into the gorge to the Rio Grande River is one of two trails here that I've not hiked. It is rated Extremely Difficult and you don't have to venture out on the trail very far to find it is rated correctly. The average drop into the gorge from most of the trails is 800' and takes you through towering Ponderosa Pines. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge Near Taos New Mexico I've crossed this bridge many times over the years, both by vehicle and by foot. There area sidewalks on both sides of the bridge plus a few lookout points where it widens to allow one to stop and let others pass by safely. The bridge is located approximately 10 miles NW of Taos on hwy 64 offering scenic views across the 1280 feet span. The Rio Grande Gorge is approximately 600 feet deep in this area with the bridge 650' above the gorge.
