The following series of images are about various buildings I encountered while walking the streets of Lisbon. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. Place Vendôme is a square in Paris located to the north of the Tuileries Gardens. It was laid out in 1702 as a monument to the glory of the armies of Louis XIV. Its regular architecture and pedimented screens canted across the corners give the rectangular Place Vendôme the aspect of an octagon. The Place Vendôme has been renowned for its fashionable and deluxe hotels (such as the Ritz Hotel). Also, many famous dress designers have had their salons in the square. The only two remaining are the shirt-maker Charvet (at number 28 - this store has been there since 1877) and the couturier Chéruit (number 21). This image is of an old locomotive that is on display at Roundhouse Park in Toronto. Central to the park is the old railway roundhouse, which has now been converted for other purposes. So why did I capture the image; well I was really taken by the juxtaposition of the old railway equipment and the very modern city behind.

This is a different perspective of Place Vendôme showing the base of the Vendôme Column. The original column was started in 1806 at Napoleon's direction and was completed in 1810. It was modelled after Trajan's Column to celebrate the victory of the battle of Austerlitz. Its veneer is made out of 425 spiralling bas-relief bronze plates made out of cannon taken from the combined armies of Europe. The plates were designed by various famous sculptors of the time. The Lawyers Office And The Village Shops is an art print I created using a fauvism technique. The setting is a street in Rockford, Michigan, where I used the perspective of looking down the sidewalk along the downtown offices and shops. Garden Road - Hong Kong

One of nine buildings in the "Kiel Fragments" series, this one usually sits on top of the StenaLine terminal, where passengers embark on the Gothenburg-bound ferries. It’s slanted by design, but doesn’t have the stepped part on the left. I also removed the text next to the "Port of Kiel" rooftop logo, thinking it might add a bit of mystery to have it by itself.

Auberge de Castille, Valletta, Malta, is now the office of the Prime Minister. The original Auberge de Castille (built in 1573–74) was dismantled and completely rebuilt in the Spanish Baroque style between 1741 to 1744. The building was restored between 2009 and 2014. It is the main building in the Castille Square near the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Auberge de Castille, Valletta, Malta, is now the office of the Prime Minister. The original Auberge de Castille (built in 1573–74) was dismantled and completely rebuilt in the Spanish Baroque style between 1741 to 1744. The building was restored between 2009 and 2014. It is the main building in the Castille Square near the Upper Barrakka Gardens. With statue of Manuel Dimech (1860-1921) famous Maltese social reformer.
