Bryce Canyon on sunset. Bryce Canyon National Park Bryce Canyon was not formed from erosion initiated from a central stream, meaning it technically is not a canyon. Instead headward erosion has excavated large amphitheater-shaped features in the Cenozoic-aged rocks of the Paunsagunt Plateau. This erosion exposed delicate and colorful pinnacles called hoodoos that are up to 200 feet (61 m) high. A series of amphitheaters extends more than 20 miles (32 km) north-to-south within the park. Unusual rock formations produced through millions of years of erosion form the landscape at the Coyote Buttes North, Arizona

The entrance to the city of Petra through a deep gorge - the Siq (shaft) - here depicted in the style of an oil painting. Looks familiar - but then we've seen Indiana Jones galloping through here! Carry on walking and you reach the rock-hewn buildings that make up this anazing place. It was the ancient capital of the Nabataeans who settled here in about the C4th BCE. The buildings are carved out of the rock face of this red sandstone giving it the name of 'The Rose Gold City or Red Rose City.

Delicate Arch at Arches National Park, Utah

I did a little trip to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (Australia) & discovered all these amazing old buildings & country churches in Bowral & Berrima. This is the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Berrima. Designed by Edmund Blacket in a simple Gothic Revival Style, the church is built from stone quarried directly behind it. The stained glass windows came from a church in Cornwall in England and are thought to date to the 15th Century. It was consecrated in 1849. The interior is especially fine with excellent stained flass, wooden fittings, and old brass oil lamps converted to electricity. *Feature* Canon DSLR, Aug 2016.
