The Spanish galleon San Jose, became on June 8, 1708 in the most valuable treasure sunk in history. The figures range between 10,000 and 17,000 million dollars. The cargo consisted of coins, gold and silver bars, jewels and precious stones. That is why Charles Wager, informed in detail of the galleon's route, intercepted it in the Rosario Islands, some thirty miles from the port of Cartagena. Despite being accompanied by 16 more ships, Charles's target was San Jose and San Joaquin. For an hour and a half, the 64 guns were bombarded to defend themselves, until finally, as if it were a wrestler's will, before being captured, he took the treasure to the bottom of the Caribbean sea. 600 sailors died and only 11 were saved. The frigate Gloucester is a Speaker-class third rate, commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Gloucester after the restoration of the English monarchy in 1660. The ship was ordered in December 1652, built at Limehouse in East London, and launched in 1654. The warship was conveying James Stuart, Duke of York to Scotland, when on 6 May 1682 she struck a sandbank off the Norfolk coast, and quickly sank. The announcement of the finding of Gloucester was made in 2022, having had to wait until after the ship's identity was confirmed, but also to protect the site, which is located in international waters.
