The Albatross Magnets
Description: This is my acrylic painting of an albatross soaring across the sea. These birds have a very large wingspan, some up to 11 feet. Albatrosses can travel long distances with dynamic and slope soaring. They have been called the most legendary of all birds. Albatrosses can be seen as a sign of good or bad luck. A large albatross with black and white plumage soars gracefully over a calm, blue sea. In the distance, a small sailboat is visible against a backdrop of soft, fluffy clouds and several other flying birds. This bird painting is included in the bird playing card game called “Chirp Up”.

Description: The Wandering Albatross does not require land. It requires ocean — the Southern Ocean specifically, the roaring forties and howling fifties, the uninterrupted fetch of the world's longest wind. It spends years at sea between breeding seasons, sleeping on the water, flying without a wingbeat for hours at a time, covering distances in a week that most birds do not cover in a lifetime. "The Pelagic Nomad" is for the offshore sailors, the deep-sea fishermen, and the serious birders who have watched one from the deck of a vessel far enough from shore that the shore is a concept rather than a location — and understood, in that moment, exactly who owns the open ocean.

Description: A majestic albatross glides over a rolling sea, a timeless scene inspired by classic maritime lore. In the age of sail, this great bird was seen as both a good omen and a sacred creature, its presence a comfort to sailors on long voyages. This design captures that feeling of awe and respect, a tribute to the enduring spirit of the world's greatest wanderer.
Description: The Albatross That Observes The Ocean Seabird Silhouette is an eye-catching silhouette of a large bird. They range widely in the Southern Ocean and the North Pacific. Albatrosses have been described as the most legendary of all birds. Wandering albatrosses are an iconic sight in the Southern Ocean and are highly adapted to long-distance soaring flight. The pelagic wanderings of albatrosses mean that ornithologists find relatively few opportunities to observe them. ABOUT THE ART © 18 October 2017, 17:11:00 Tracey Harrington Simpson
