A digital painting from my original photograph of the scene just upstream of the lock and weir at Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire in early autumn. This part of the river is known as The Goring Gap as it cuts through between the North Wessex (Berkshire) Downs and the Chiltern Hills. This is a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Here we see the lock keeper's cottage on an island by the lock.

Have you been to Katmai National Park and Preserve and watched the bears catch Salmon? If so, this original watercolor painting might be just the thing to remind you of a wow experience.

Looking upstream towards Day's Lock on the River Thames at Little Wittenham. Here the rive flows by the village of Dorchester on Thames, once an important Roman settlement, now famous for its abbey - and being the frequent setting for the TV series 'Midsomer Murders'! Further above the lock is the town of Abingdon whilst downstream the river flows past the hills known as the Wittenham Clumps. In summer the river is busy with boats of all sorts but this image shows a quiet afternoon in spring.
