"Yasuke arrived in Japan in 1579, coincidentally crossing paths with feudal lord and one of the first "Great Unifiers" of Japan, Oda Nobunaga. Eventually, he was shown favor and was allowed into the warrior clan. Colorism is still an issue in Japan, yet there is no denying the bond we share, with writing from even W.E.B DuBois saying in some ways it was a safe space.
