Yesteryear Magnets

Like antiques? From weathervanes to antique model trains, this shop has it all. I discovered this antique shop in Quebec during a road trip. I was traveling through several small farming communities along the south shore of the St Lawrence River when I found this. It was full of antique metal art and old petrol signs popular with collectors of garage art. Of course, I couldn't pass this scene up to make a collection of photos. Veni Vidi Villon – I came, I saw, I couldn’t find the snows of yesteryear. A play on words, based on the poem “Ballade des dames du temps jadis” (“Ballad of the Ladies of Times Past”) by François Villon, and its interrogative refrain “Mais où sont les neiges d’antan?” (“But where are the snows of yesteryear?”) – a comment on the ephemeral nature of fame. Featuring a photo I took of the tree opposite our house in the depths of winter, covered in snow.

How often do you reminisce with fondness about the past? About your younger days? Youthful adventures, old lovers, going to parties, concerts, dancing, traveling, camping and enjoying a carefree life. Do you wish you could become a Time Traveler and travel back in time, down memory lane, and relive the fond memories of yesteryear, the time of your youth and childhood, a sentimental journey to the happiness of a former place and time spent with loved ones, family, friends, classmates from the  high school days, college friends, army buddies. If only you could find a time machine to transport you to earlier better times, holidays, graduations, and revisit old haunts and hangouts, the tree under which you had your first kiss, past adventures.
