Seen from the water, the imposing Punta della Dogana in Venice, Italy. This classical building sits between the Grand Canal and the Giudecca canal at the tip of an island which is diagonally opposite St Mark's Square. It was used for docking and as a customs house. However, the building as we see it now dates from 1682. Its use as a customs house lasted until the 1980s. Restoration took place in 2008-9 and this beautiful building is now an art museum.
