Overlapping Surf Meets Sand, Punta Cana Mug

While walking along the beach at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, I couldn't help but note the patterns in the sand caused by the gentle to and fro of the waves. The sand there has a fairly coarse texture, I think it's the ground remains of sea shells, which easily flow with the passing of each wave. Looking at the sand, you could see a crisscrossing of etchings, lozenge-like, made by tiny rivulets in the sand. With each wave, the pattern was renewed. What I love about this image is the textures in the sand, the lines of froth leading the waves, and the gentle flow of water behind.
