A fresh new work by Andrew Reid Wildman

A corner of Amsterdam. A place where canals and tramlines and streets meet in a cacophony of bike bells and thundering wheels. Yet if we look up, and perhaps move under the shade of the trees that hug the calm murky waters of the canal, we can find a place I call Gothic Corner. I love the architecture of Amsterdam, and this building reminded me of the Centraal Station, or the Rijksmuseum, or of many other more modest buildings of the nineteenth century that hug the Vondelpark. I wanted to paint the reddish, earthy hues of the bricks and the blue of the sky. This work is an ideal souvenir of Amsterdam, a great gift.

There is a buzz in the air, here in New York City. Taxis sound their horns in frustration, engines snarling, the energy palpable. Skyscrapers soar upwards, thousands of windows twinkling like stars, each one a mystery. I wander the streets, alone and excited, a day to myself exploring, my senses overwhelmed. The work is full of colour, full of vibrancy, and I have used some collage to add to the chaos and bustle of the city. This work is a great souvenir of the Big Apple, a perfect gift and a fantastic addition to any collection of urban themed works.

I am fascinated by the shapes of oranges and lemons. I love their scent, their texture, their sharpness. I was struck by the fruit bowl in my kitchen, freshly filled from a prosaic shopping trip. A cornucopia, a tribute to Bacchus perhaps.

Jonathan and Drew are the Led Zeppelin of home improvement. Or are they the Kinks?...maybe they're more like the Oasis. I'm not sure if there is a perfect rock n' roll metaphor for them, but you have to admit that this design rocks!

Life as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan means limited attachment to players. You never know when the next star will be shipped out for peanuts; a situation that has become all too common under current management.

Taken on a colour slide in 1992, this photo was the most popular photo for almost all of the 23 years I had my gallery in Montville

Transfixed by a wall of white heat and sky blue shutters, I am drawn. The window invites inwards, an oasis of coolth, whilst outside the sun soaks into stone and earth, dry, and purifying. Bees jump languidly on plump buds of lavender, crickets chirp, birds wait in the shade. My little corner of France. This work is a perfect souvenir of France, a lovely gift for a home.
