The wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) is an Old World tropical bird of the hornbill family Bucerotidae, also called bar-pouched wreathed hornbill due to its distinctive blue-black band on its lower throat sac. It is named after its characteristic long, curved bill that develops ridges, or wreaths, on the casque of the upper mandible in adults. Males are black with a rufous crown, a white upper breast and face, and a yellow featherless throat. Females are uniformly black with a blue throat and are slightly smaller than males. The banded broadbill (Eurylaimus javanicus) is a species of bird in the typical broadbill family Eurylaimidae found in Mainland Southeast Asia and the Greater Sunda Islands. It is sometimes split into two species, one including only the nominate subspecies, E. j. javanicus, and one including all the remaining subspecies The banded broadbill is a striking, large-bodied bird, with a length of 21.5–23.0 cm (8.5–9.1 in). The weight of 10 adult pallidus specimens from the Malay Peninsula was 65.1–95.0 g (2.30–3.35 oz), males weighing slightly more than females. Drive You Mad Hibiscus Pattern

The Black-chinned Hummingbird is a rare sight in my backyard. Most of my hummingbird shooting, and most of the hummingbird shots you see here, are from my backyard garden. In the ten plus years I've been shooting in the yard, I've only had two instances where I've caught Black-chinned Hummingbirds. Both those instances were in the springtime, but in different years, and on one day only in each year. They show up for a moment, then move on. That may be due to the territorial Allen's Hummingbirds in the garden, chasing out most other hummingbirds, for what seems like all year. This shot, as the bird approaches a Mexican Bird Of Paradise flower, was taken in Patagonia, Arizona. What I find fascinating about Black-chinned Hummingbirds...

Bright and colorful male is difficult to miss: bright grayish blue with yellow or orange underparts (depending on subspecies) and a small orange splotch on the back. Female is comparatively dull, but her yellow-suffused underparts and rump are still quite distinctive. Like other flowerpeckers, forages actively, often hovering in front of blossoms or while gleaning from foliage. The plaintive cuckoo (Cacomantis merulinus) is a species of bird belonging to the genus Cacomantis in the cuckoo family Cuculidae. It is native to Asia, from India, Nepal and China to Indonesia.
