Description: Maritime History - RMS Empress of Canada was an ocean liner built in 1920 for the Canadian Pacific Steamships. This ship regularly traversed the trans-Pacific route between the west coast of Canada and the Asian waters until 1939. Following the outbreak of World War II in 1939, she was converted for use as a troopship. On the 14th of March 1943, Empress of Canada was torpedoed at midnight and sunk by the Italian submarine Leonardo da Vinci off the coast of Africa.
Description: Maritime History - RMS Empress of Britain was built between 1928 and 1931 for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and operated by Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. In her time, the Empress of Britain was the largest, fastest and most luxurious ship between the United Kingdom and Canada, and the largest ship in the Canadian Pacific fleet. She was spotted by a German long-range bomber, who hit her twice, before the ship was torpedoed and sank on the 28th of October 1940. she was one of the largest liners lost in the Second World War and the largest ship sunk by a U-boat.

As well as being a passenger liner in peacetime, Empress of Asia served as an armed merchant cruiser and a troopship in wartime. She was sunk during World War II by Japanese aircraft while transiting from Bombay to Singapore.
Description: Maritime History - RMS Empress of France was a Canadian Pacific passenger liner and cargo ship, initially named SS Duchess of Bedford when she was launched in 1928. The Duchess served as a troop ship during the Second World War. The name of this ship was changed to Empress of France during her post-war refit in 1947. She was taken out of service in 1960.
