White stags have played a role in many mythologies and legends, especially in the North. The Celts believed them to be messengers from the otherworld. The white stag’s appearance would be an omen for whoever sighted it. The legends of King Arthur indicated that the white stag had a supernatural ability to avoid capture, and pursuit of the magical beast was akin to a spiritual quest.

This design is based off of a panel from the famous Gundestrup Cauldron. The scene depicts the god-- often identified as Cernunnos-- surrounded by animals. I've recreated this design in my own style making a unique take on this Celtic/La Tene piece of art!

This Celtic knot is one of my best selling designs because it is simple yet complex. The interlocking Celtic Knots design started in Britain in the Middle ages. The intricate designs are also referred to as "Mystic" or "Endless" knots because they symbolize infinite life. When a design such as this one has three points, it can symbolize mind, body and spirit. Another interpretation of the three points is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Cernunnos is the “Horned One”, a Celtic god associated with sexuality, fertility, the hunt, and the underworld. He was worshiped as the “lord of wild things” by the iron age Celts all across Europe as late as the first century, but his worship began centuries before that. Cernunnos is nearly always portrayed with animals, in particular the stag. He alternates with the goddess of the moon in ruling over life and death, continuing the cycle of death, rebirth and reincarnation.

Out with the old and in with the new! We were running a “Hammer of Thor” tee for a while, but I felt the need to totally revamp the design. I’m really happy with the end result. For those of you who don’t already know, Mjölnir is the name of the weapon used by the Norse god of thunder, Thor. The symbol at the center of this design is based on Mjölnir amulets worn around the necks of Vikings during the Middle Ages. It is meant to symbolize strength and protection. Take some time to look at the details in and around the hammer. Anyone interested in Viking history, or in Celtic art would appreciate it.

The Valknut is one of the most widely-discussed yet enigmatic of all of the symbols that appear in connection with Norse mythology. Visually, it’s comprised of three interlocking triangles. Archaeologically, it appears on several rune stones and pictorial memorial stones that date from the Viking Age and stand on the Swedish island of Gotland, as well as on grave goods from the Oseberg ship burial in Norway. In the archaeological record, the Valknut appears only in connection with the cult of the dead, as in the aforementioned rune stones and ship burial. Among the first known written scripts, Elder Futhark runes are an ancient and deep alphabet. The celtic knotwork is a stylized graphical representation of knots used in in auld celtic decoration. The inner-most circle is the tradition three-point celtic knot, worked in an interlace and "4 cornered" pattern.
