It was the first mass-produced offroad vehicle and was designed to be a utility vehicle that could be used on farms, ranches, and other rough terrain. The CJ-2A had a four-cylinder engine and a three-speed manual transmission, and it was available in a variety of body styles including a pickup truck, wagon, and sedan delivery. It was succeeded by the Willys CJ-3A in 1949.
