During the Covid-19 Lockdown in my reflections on Holy Week I thought about how the word "Corona" means "Crown" and it made me contemplate an analogy where sin is the original pandemic afflicting humanity. Even before the pandemic many people lived in fear to go where they wanted to when they wanted to because of the hatred and brutality of others. We live in a world that is infected by sin and many times we infect others through our actions and attitudes and failure to 'Love your neighbor as yourself’.

I painted this around 2005 during the 2nd Gulf War. It is a M1A1 Abrams tank in a splatter of oil. According to the news article that I got the reference photo from it was being used by British forces in Iraq. It reflects my attitude about the war at the time. My respect to all those who sacrificed and payed the price of war and were affected by it.

Our awesome galaxy with its stars, planets, interstellar gas, dust, dark matter and stellar remnants has always peak my interest since I was a small boy. During night times on our farm, I could look up into the sky for hours on end, enjoying our beautiful creation. Of course, the real beauty only comes to light once you look at our planet system via strong telescopes. Anyhow, I created this stunning and beautiful image with photoshop, with the help from online youtube video’s. Hope you enjoy it too.

A flaming sword of supernatural power. It looks something like a Gladius, but I made the blade curved on both sides so it looks like a long tongue of flame. I will be using this blade in other designs soon.

This is an image of a Lionfish integrated into my Blue Bubblewrap Pattern. I used a picture I took at the Houston Downtown Aquarium. The Lionfish is part of the Scorpionfish(Scorpaenidae) family and has insatiable appetite. Lionfish don’t wait for their food to approach them, but rather move out and hunt on their own. They have almost no natural predators.

I really love St Crispin's Day speech in William Shakespeare's Henry V. Set on the eve of the Battle of Agincourt. This phrase is just one of many wise and quotable lines.

One day I went into my garage and behind a blue curtain in the window of the door was a huge dragonfly. It was beautiful with it’s silhouette contrasting on the bright blue light filling the room. I snapped a shot of it and now many years later I’ve integrated it into my blue hexagonal honeycomb pattern that, that moment might live on. I set it free after capturing it with my camera phone but that moment stayed with me and reflecting on a creature that has survived thousands of years it gives me hope in our collective spirit of survival in a world where there be dragons.

This is one of my later works, It features some characters that appear in many of my paintings. I had a vivid dream one night about souls rising up to Heaven in the form of wispy vapor like figures. They were kind of elongating like the supposed spaghettification effect of a black hole.

This is my "Butterfly Sky" painting with the colors altered digitally. Around 2009 my paintings became more abstract and simpler. Mostly because I had less time to paint as my Wife and I started a family. I think my work started to look more beautiful as a result.

"Alien to this World" is about fitting in nowhere and learning to enjoy it. This one of my favorite paintings from my years as a Local Houston Artist. For 15 years I participated in the ArtClimb and Art Crawl warehouse art scene East of Downtown Houston. I use hands as a recurring theme in my art. I was impressed by images of one the oldest art discovered. The Sulawesi cave art consists of hand stenciling dating back to at least 37,900 BC. One of the most instinctual, human, and personal ways to say I am here and I exist in the journey of time.
