Description: During the Covid-19 Lockdown in my reflections on Holy Week I thought about how the word "Corona" means "Crown" and it made contemplate an analogy where sin is the original pandemic afflicting humanity. Even before the pandemic many people lived in fear to go where they wanted to when they wanted to because of the hatred and brutality of others. We live in a world that is infected by sin and many times we infect others through our actions and attitudes and failure to 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Description: Saint José Sánchez del Río : It was never so easy to win heaven (Nunca fué tan fácil ganarse el cielo). Saint José Sánchez del Río was a 14-year-old Mexican boy martyred during the Cristero War in the 1920s for refusing to renounce his Catholic faith. Despite his youth, he joined the Cristeros, was captured, and endured brutal torture. He remained steadfast, proclaiming "Long live Christ the King!" before being killed in 1928. Canonized in 2016, he is celebrated as a courageous role model for young Catholics. His feast day is February 10.
