This is an image of a section of the citadel wall in Villefranche-sur-Mer, on the south coast of France. The sky beyond had a sense of storminess about it and yet this structure at a corner of the citadel wall was bathed in strong sunlight and deep shadows. The wonderful multicoloured roof and palm trees completed the image.

The Castrum Flastrae was used by the population living in the valley below to shelter livestock and food supplies during enemy invasions
