Description: Pulgasari is a 1985 North Korean dark fantasy-action kaiju film that is loosely based on the legend of the Bulgasari. The film was directed by Shin Sang-ok, a successful South Korean director and producer. Shin, along with his wife, had been kidnapped in 1978 by North Korean intelligence on the orders of Kim Jong-il, son of the then-ruling Kim Il-sung, and was coerced into making several films as a director, with Pulgasari being his final work before he and his wife, actress Choi Eun-hee, escaped their captors. But what about the film? Oh, yeah, here's the gist of the movie: Pulgasari tells the story of an iron-eating Godzilla knock-off who comes to life after being molded from rice and blood (not unlike a Rock).
