A bench providing a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the surroundings here at East Ilsely, a village in the Berkshire or North Wessex Downs. The village can be found just off the A34 between Newbury and Abingdon. Being near the Ridgeway path and other old roadways it was an important trading place. It was also on a coaching route so had a number of inns. There was a weekly sheep market held here too. The pond itself has been recently cleared - and is much appreciated by the local ducks!

Looking over a meadow near the quay on the river Alde to the village of Orford in Sussex. This was an important place in medieval times as evidenced in the castle with its fine keep built by Henry II in 1165-73. This impressive polygonal tower is well preserved and inside has rooms and a maze of passages. Near the village is Orford Ness - a shingle spit which links to the mainland at Aldeburgh. The image has a digitally produced coloured pencil finish.

One Piece Chibi Project

Wharram Percy is one of the largest and best preserved of Britain's 3,000 or so known deserted medieval villages. It is also undoubtedly the most famous. Perched on the side of a remote and beautiful valley in the Yorkshire Wolds, the village was continuously occupied for six centuries before it was abandoned soon after 1500. Today you can trace the outlines of many lost houses on a grassy plateau above the substantial remains of the church and the millpond.

The village of Seaton Sluice is situated in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. This image captures the scene on a warm Spring afternoon in May looking south over the sand dunes towards the harbour and Rocky Island, and then given a slight panorama crop.

Every year the picturesque Oxfordshire village of East Hagbourne goes completely scarecrow mad! Here I challenged myself to sketch all 33 across a weekend. Ten minutes a sketch. Five drawing, five colouring. What's not to love!

LINCOLN - East Midlands England Rooftop View on a beautiful day.

Coastal waves pouring over the lovely little zig zag pier at St Monans Harbour, St Monans, sometimes spelt St Monance, is a village and parish in the East Neuk of Fife and is named after the legendary Saint Monan.

Nobska Light, originally called Nobsque Light, also known as Nobska Point Light is a lighthouse located near the division between Buzzards Bay, Nantucket Sound, and Vineyard Sound in the settlement of Woods Hole, Massachusetts on the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

St Margaret's in Burnham Norton (apparently meaning North Town) is one of the round towered churches typical of Norfolk. It is one of the six surviving medieval churches in the Burnham area, the round tower displaying much of its Norman origins. In the churchyard is buried Richard Woodget, master of the sailing clipper Cutty Sark which can be seen at Greenwich, London. Burnham Norton is not far from the market town of Burnham Market and is only a short distance - about half a mile - from the sea which played an important role in its life. Nikon D200 Nikkor 18-200
