Electronics Mugs
Description: Founded by Ralph Matthews and Karl Hassel in Chicago, Illinois, as Chicago Radio Labs in 1918 as a small producer of amateur radio equipment. The name "Zenith" came from ZN'th, a contraction of its founders' ham radio call sign, 9ZN. They were joined in 1921 by Eugene F. McDonald, and Zenith Radio Company was formally incorporated in 1923. The fledgling company soon became known for its high-quality radios and electronic innovations. Zenith introduced the first portable radio in 1924 and would go on to innovate and define the home television market. Zenith pioneered high-contrast, flat-face picture tubes, and the multichannel television sound (MTS) stereo system, and was one of the first companies to introduce a digital HDTV system.
Description: A minimalist monochrome composition featuring the word "ELECTRONICS" in large, bold white capital letters against a black background. Below it, in a smaller, italicized white font, is the text 'the science of fixing devices by simply turning them off and on again-because somehow, it works.'
Description: A tribute to the golden age of analog sound. This vintage hi-fi audio stack collage brings together the tactile beauty of stereo receivers, turntables, cassette decks, and classic speakers. Every knob, meter, and frequency dial echoes an era when sound was physical. Perfect for audiophiles, vinyl collectors, music producers, DJs, and anyone who believes analog still breathes. Where signal becomes memory.
Description: Connecting a standard USB cable to a computer port defies rational rules of three-dimensional geometry. You try to push the rectangular connector into the slot, but it encounters an immovable barrier. Naturally, you rotate the plug one hundred and eighty degrees, only to find that it stubbornly refuses to insert from that orientation as well. Finally, you flip the cable back to the original position, and it miraculously slides into place with effortless ease. The connector somehow possesses three distinct sides despite being a simple two-sided rectangular object. The comedy captures the annoyance of dealing with hardware, laughing at how one simple plug can defy ordinary physics and test our sanity until the mandatory third flip succeeds.
Description: "Mikroelektronik im Sozialismus, Für das Wohl des Volkes" or "Microelectronics in Socialism For The Welfare of the People" This design comes from an East German (GDR) poster depicting the face of Karl Marx onto a circuit board celebrating the use of modern microelectronics in building socialism. I have completely redrawn, recolored, and refinished this design in order to preserve this important and fascinating piece of East German and technological history.
