Gladzor Mugs

700th anniversary of the establishment of Gladzor University in Armenia.

This depiction of the Annunciation is based off the Gladzor Gospels. The Gladzor Gospel is an illuminated manuscript created in the 1300s in the Armenian region. The manuscript is a lovely piece of illumination and calligraphy with bright, vibrant colors. Taken from a larger image in the work, the figures here depict Gabriel telling the Virgin Mary that she will bear a child. I've recreated it as a hand-carved block print and printed it by hand before scanning it to make this design.

I've recreated it as a hand-carved block print and printed it by hand before scanning it to make this design.
