Description: A raw salute to the frantic spirit of early ’80s Washington D.C. hardcore. “Make an Effort” channels basement-show chaos through blown-out Xerox textures, torn flyer edges, distressed lettering, and a packed microphone-grabbing crowd. Built to feel less like modern merch and more like a forgotten 1982 gig flyer pulled from the bottom of a punk archive box.
Description: A raw tribute to the sweat-soaked basement energy of early Washington D.C. hardcore. Distressed stencil lettering, blown-out photocopy textures, crowded fists, and wired-mic chaos give this piece the feeling of a forgotten 1982 all-ages show flyer pulled straight from the scene. Built for old-school punk listeners, hardcore collectors, record diggers, and anyone who still believes people should make an effort.
Description: Government Issue, often shortened to G.I., emerged from Washington, D.C.’s first wave of hardcore in 1980 and became one of the scene’s longest-running and most adventurous bands. Led throughout its existence by the irrepressible John Stabb, the group debuted with the ferocious Legless Bull EP in 1981 and spent the rest of the decade refusing to stand still. While their earliest material delivered the short, fast blasts associated with D.C. hardcore, later records expanded into melodic punk, post-hardcore, metal, new wave, and psychedelic territory. This design is based on the explosive Make an Effort 7" from 1982, which should be required listening for every hardcore punk fan.
