The property has some of the oldest vines in the Southern Adelaide Hills. Our vineyard, homestead, art gallery and cellar door in the centre of the Fleurieu Peninsula is nestled back from B34, the main road from Hahndorf to Willunga Hill. We are half way from Adelaide to Victor Harbor. Our vines, organically grown since 2013 have been under a restoration process and are now producing premium fruit. 5 different winemakers purchase our fruit. This is my painting of a bunch of grapes, with autumn leaves. I painted this on toned tan paper.

Mustard - The other wine between the vines. Did you know? Vintners grow mustard in between their vines to help suppress the nematode population (a wormlike parasite). There are a variety of mustard plants which can be bred to specifically have high levels of Glucosinolate compounds, or are “extra spicy.” These include, Black mustard, Nemfix mustard, IdaGold Mustard, Oilseed radish, Diakon radish and wild radishes. These are incorporated back into the ground where they will break down just as the first populations of nematodes are gearing up to do damage to young vines.

This artificial smog forms a "blanket" that blocks infrared light, thereby preventing radiative cooling that would otherwise cause or worsen frost.

Sometimes depending on the wine makers requirements,during vintage the machine harvester comes to pick. It has to be done at night. The fruit is bashed off the vine carried across on a conveyor belt to the next row where a tractor is towing large bins.... In the heat of the day the bruised fruit would start fermenting. This is the harvester - watching it working is quite a sight. -In Vino Veritas - Wine T-shirt- Latin for In Wine, Truth - perhaps the latin is referring to wine's excellent functionality as a social lubricant? All I know is that sometimes it's nice to just kick back with a glass of wine. You may be looking to relax or unwind after a long day, or to celebrate as special occasion or achievement. Maybe you're going to a tasting, or just looking to have a glass at mealtime.

Merlot grapes are very delicious and sweet when fully ripe and ready for harvest. The vineyard workers were harvesting the grapes right beside me.
