Grogs Surf Palace Mugs
Description: The Shore's surf culture can be traced back to the '60s, when Greg "Grog" Mesanko of Toms River, New Jersey hit the waves at Casino Pier with his crew. He would go on to establish what would become the Shore's premier surf shop, Grog's Surf Palace, in Seaside Park in 1970. Grog's became somewhat of a clubhouse for local surfers and played a huge part in promoting the New Jersey surfing scene, sponsoring many contests and events along the way.
Description: A sun-faded tribute to the rougher side of surf culture. Grog’s Surf Palace channels the feel of a forgotten 1970 New Jersey board shop — longboards by the pier, Atlantic swells rolling in, salt in the air, and nowhere important to be before sunset. Built with chunky seventies surf lettering, a weathered beach mascot, curling wave, vintage longboard and old-shore souvenir graphics, this design feels like something rescued from the back wall of a Jersey surf shack after fifty years of sand, wax and good stories. Perfect for surfers, Jersey Shore nostalgists, vintage beachwear collectors, longboard fans and anyone who prefers East Coast surf culture with a little grit.
