Southern Ontario is home to thousands of farms, each with at least one barn. Although I don't come from a farming background, I do see the nobility in these utilitarian buildings. The simplicity of their designs, the robustness of their construction. Yes there are variations on the theme, but their place on the landscape always looks so right. This image depicts a well maintained barn. It's clearly old judging by the field stone construction of its lower portion. The barn boards are weather worn and aged, and the metal roof has a rust coloured patina, but it seems to have faced the test of time with the fortitude its builders intended. The small silo adds to the scene. They have an overall sense of belonging in this rural landscape.

Pacific Coastal Sunset With Receding Tide

Four Egyptian men apparently waiting for something to come? You see many images in the Middle East that meet the eye with a disquieting fascination. There's something inexplicable about these sights and you find yourself asking, "Where is he going" or What is he doing way out there? There's nothing there!" That kind of questioning? Of course, there are no answers forthcoming. I find it all so uniquely disquieting. Click once on image to enlarge.

When in Copenhagen, we took a boat ride around the canals and harbour. Part of the boat ride took us past two identical naval vessels, frigates, I think, As the boat passed in front of the two ships, I waited for the right moment to get this perfectly symmetrical shot.

I do like to walk among trees. This an image of just one such occasion, when we went for a walk in the Naftel's Conservation Area, near Goderich, Ontario. It's close to where we have our cottage, a place where we can spend an hour roaming among the very varied treescapes. I love this image for the way the trees converge. It's interesting the way this species of tree abandons its lower branches in its race for the sky. On the ground is a carpet of fallen needles that have turned a deep reddy-brown.
