Hudson: son of a brave ruler.

The name "Hudson" came from Joseph L. Hudson, a Detroit department store entrepreneur and founder of Hudson's department store, who provided the necessary capital and gave permission for the company to be named after him. A total of eight Detroit businessmen formed the company on February 20, 1909, to produce an automobile which would sell for less than US$1,000 (equivalent to approximately $26,656 in today's funds). One of the chief "car men" and organizer of the company was Roy D. Chapin, Sr., a young executive who had worked with Ransom E. Olds. (Chapin's son, Roy Jr., would later be president of Hudson-Nash descendant American Motors Corp. in the 1960s).

Hudson Oil Company of Canada Ltd. was dissolved in 1971. It was not incorporated in Alberta but may be in another province or federally. It does not appear in the oil and gas directories for the 1950s and 1960s.

Remembering the great Dayton’s Department Store in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dayton's was an American department store chain founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1902 by George Draper Dayton. He built the 6-story department store on the corner of 7th and Nicollet. Built in Renaissance Revival style, its decorative details are borrowed from ancient Greece and Rome, and its overall form is reminiscent of 15th-century Italian palazzos. It was a twin cities institution.

The Hudson Dusters was a New York City street gang during the early twentieth century. Formed in the late 1890s by "Circular Jack", "Kid Yorke", and "Goo Goo Knox", the gang began operating from an apartment house on Hudson Street. Knox, a former member of the Gopher Gang, had fled after a failed attempt to gain leadership of the gang from then-leader Marty Brennan. However the two gangs later became allies during the gang wars against Gay Nineties gangs, the Potashes and Boodle Gangs, soon controlling most of Manhattan's West Side as far as 13th Street and eastern Broadway, bordering Paul Kelly's Five Points Gang to the north. While the gang dominated the West Side, it constantly battled smaller rival gangs including the Fashion Plates.
