The quartet's innovative style, which incorporated unusual time signatures and classical music influences, helped to make jazz more accessible to mainstream audiences. Brubeck continued to perform and record music throughout his long career, and his influence can still be heard in the music of countless jazz musicians today. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 91.
