A pen and ink illustration of k2, the second highest mountain in the world, and one of the most deadly and difficult to climb. I was not injured drawing it, but my hand got a little tired.

K2 is ranked 22nd by topographic prominence, a measure of a mountain's independent stature, because it is part of the same extended area of uplift (including the Karakoram, the Tibetan Plateau, and the Himalaya) as Mount Everest.

This painting was commissioned by one of my patrons who loves Alaska, and I released limited-edition prints of it. The image is of a K2 Aviation plane flying in front of Denali, the tallest peak in North America. The plane is a De Havilland Beaver, and has skis for landing on glaciers on Denali.
