Originally built in 1611, rebuilt in 1785, Molen de Valk windmill is a tower mill, now a museum, in the Dutch university city of Leiden on the River Rhine.

Max Liebermann (1847-1935) was a prominent German painter and one of the leading figures of the Impressionist movement in Germany. He is celebrated for his vibrant and atmospheric portrayals of everyday life, landscapes, and portraits, which exemplify his remarkable talent and deep understanding of color, light, and brushwork.

De Valk is a functional tower mill (a type of vertical windmill) and museum in Leiden, Netherlands.

'De Valk' (The Falcon) is a seven floor 29-metre stone tower mill in Leiden, Netherlands, dating from 1743. De Valk is the only remaining windmill out of nineteen windmills built on the city walls of Leiden. The present mill has had two predecessors. In 1611, the post mill 'De Valck' was built upon the Valkenburger bulwark and later made way for a wooden tower mill in 1667. The only remaining town miller's residence in the Netherlands has been kept largely intact on the ground floor. The almost complete original furnishings take the visitor back in time to 1900.

Looking North-West over the city of Leiden, Netherlands. Slightly right centre you can see the Hooglandse Kerk (Highland Church), also known as the Church of St Pancras. This church was the second church built in Leiden, Netherlands. The first, smaller version of the church was consecrated to St. Pancras in 1315. In 1377 the building of the present church started in Late Gothic style. It was consecrated in phases in 1381 and 1436. The exterior of the Hooglandsekerk is impressive, as its location high on a hill, but the interior is less interesting and rather empty. The church contains the monument of Pieter Adriaanszoon van der Werff.

This is straight from my camera. I don't usually do "Straight from the camera", but I am in Leiden, Netherlands on business at the moment. I have my work laptop, but it does not have any photo editing software on board. I liked the colours in the sky, so here it is, completely untouched.
