It’s hard to put the feeling of being in Milford Sound into words. It all seemed so much larger than life; the mountains, the waterfalls, and the sky all made me feel so minuscule…but in the most jaw-dropping way possible. I was lucky enough to be there during a summer that had been extremely dry, which meant I’d had perfect blue skies for my entire trek down the Milford Track and into the Sound itself. However, that also meant that I didn’t get to see the walls of the fiord turn into a myriad of waterfalls or see the clouds creeping slowly up the sound. I was okay with that though, because, well, how could I not be with this view?

Possible alligator sighting reported at Kensington Metropark! The Huron-Clinton Metroparks organization is warning the community about a possible alligator in Kent Lake at Kensington Metropark, located in Milford Township. Signs have been posted around the lake, letting visitors know that an alligator may be in the water. No photos of the possible alligator were provided. Officials said the signs were posted “out of an abundance of caution” and for visitor safety.

The early 1920s saw many corn hybridization attempts, but since basic genetic theory was inadequate at the time, it took well over a decade before they could be considered successful. When corn hybrids finally became commercially available, farmers were still reluctant to adopt them, but thanks to hybrid innovators like A. F. Crow, that began to change as demonstrations and field observations were held. By the mid-1940s, demand exceeded production and the new hybrid seed industry was up and running. Thanks to hybrid seed, today’s farmers are able to produce 20% more corn on 25% fewer acres than they did a century ago, which might explain why more than 95% of corn planted today is a hybrid variant.

Driftwood, Keyhaven Jetty Number of views as of 19th October 2016 = 240. Keyhaven is a small fishing village on the south coast of England, between Milford-on-Sea and Lymington, Hampshire. A mile or so north-east of the village, this iron-clad jetty juts out into the Solent, with great views across to the Isle of Wight and Hurst Castle further to the south-west. If you look carefully beyond the jetty, you can just see the Isle of Wight ferry, which crosses from Lymington to Yarmouth and back. Date: 16th March 2014.
