Another scene from sunset on Cylinder Beach from our trip to Straddie a few weeks ago. This one was taken about 15 minutes before the previous one I posted while the sun was still above the horizon -- hence the significantly more yellow sky.

Waves swirl in front of Cathedral Rocks, near Kiama on the NSW South Coast. I was happy to finally get a non-rainy sunrise here on my third day of trying!

Sometimes it's best just to forego organised activities and go for a wander in a new place. That's what I did in Svinøya, and not only did I get to talk to locals about the upcoming World Cod Fishing Championships, but I also got to see plenty of views like this one!

Barely two hours after the sun had risen on our first day in the Lofoten Islands in January, it started to dip back below the horizon. We stopped at a rocky beach on the side of the E10 (the main road through the islands) to capture this scene.

Happy Australia Day everyone! If you're here in Oz, I hope your day involves plenty of beach and BBQ time. This would have been the perfect way to start Australia Day, but since it's a bit rainy today I'm just looking back on my memories of Point Cartwright a few weeks ago.

Like so many places I'd visited in Lapland, Porjus (near Gällivare in Swedish Lapland) featured a perfectly calm lake that reflected the sun as it slowly dipped towards the horizon. While this looks like it could be midnight sun, this photo was actually taken around 9.30pm; now that the midnight sun period has finished, Lapland is losing light at a rapid 20 minutes per day! This particular place in Porjus is also a special place for me, since I have now visited it three times (twice in winter and once in summer), and it was the first place I ever visited in Lapland. You could say that it was the catalyst for the many Nordic adventures I've had over the last few years!

Reine turns a gorgeous blue colour as dawn slowly comes to Northern Norway in winter. The lights of the town have yet to turn off -- after all, why would they need to? It was only 9am!

The sun sets in front of Seljalandsfoss in southern Iceland, turning the entire waterfall into a giant piece of cotton candy. We were so lucky to get a good sunset on our one evening here!

Everything turned a pastel hue just after this sunrise at Point Cartwright on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Our first morning in the Lofoten Islands also coincided with the first morning they had seen the sun peek over the horizon since the early days of December. With colours like this in the sky, we couldn't help but to pull over on our drive out of Henningsvær and capture the scene. Ahh, how's the serenity? Point Cartwright was a great place to spend Sunday morning watching the sun come up as the beach slowly became busier with people starting their morning routines, whether that be walking the dog or doing yoga.

Waves doing what they do best...the wave. This was from an amazing morning at Snapper Rocks when the sun rose in just the right spot to be caught in the splash of the waves as they came crashing in to shore.

This is a shot of the Chaurami Aquarium in Okinawa, Japan. This is the tank where they have the whale sharks! It is said to be the second largest aquarium in the world. This is a pseudo-HDR made from one RAW file that I tonemapped in Photomatix and later processed in Photoshop. Hope you like it. This shot is a RAW image that was later processed in CS5 that was taken of the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. The architecture of this building is amazing and i couldn't get enough of it.
