On June 18, 2023, OceanGate lost contact with Titan during its dive in 2023 to the Titanic. A massive international search and rescue operation ensued and ended on June 22, 2023 when debris from Titan, which had been destroyed in a catastrophic implosion, was discovered about 500 metres (1,600 ft) in front of the bow of Titanic.
