Willy's Chocolate Experience was an unlicensed event based on the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory franchise, held in Glasgow, Scotland, in February 2024. The event was promoted as an immersive and interactive family experience, illustrated on a promotional website with "dreamlike" AI-generated images. When customers discovered that the event was held in a sparsely decorated warehouse, many complained and the police were called to the venue. The event went viral on the Internet, garnering international media attention.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is a 1971 American musical fantasy film directed by Mel Stuart and starring Gene Wilder as candymaker Willy Wonka. It is an adaptation of the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. The film tells the story of a poor child named Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) who, upon finding a Golden Ticket in a chocolate bar, wins the chance to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory along with four other children from around the world.

"You get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!" is a memorable quote spoken by the title character in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Towards the end of the film, Charlie and Grandpa Joe approach Wonka, played by Gene Wilder, about a promised lifetime supply of chocolate. Wonka denies him as Joe and Charlie stole Fizzy Lifting Drinks and got his ceiling dirty in a previous scene. Since the release of the film, the quote has been referenced in pop culture for many decades. In May 2001, a shortened version of the quote, "now good day sir," was introduced as a catchphrase of Fez in the popular TV sitcom series That '70s Show.

Willy Wonka, an aspiring magician, inventor, and chocolatier, arrives in Europe to establish his chocolate shop at the Galeries Gourmet. Burning through his meager savings, he is coerced to stay at Mrs. Scrubitt's boarding house by her henchman Bleacher, and signs a contract despite orphan Noodle's warning about the fine print. To pay them off, Wonka introduces "hoverchocs", chocolates that make people fly, at Galeries Gourmet, facing mockery from three rival chocolatiers who call the Chief of Police to confiscate his earnings for disrupting their businesses and selling without a chocolate store.
