Why doesn't anybody know that the Washington state flag is dope on your torso?

The name of this Oregon coast city was chosen by children back in 1965. It's fitting then that kite flying became a popular pastime at the pristine beaches. With its quaint shops and gorgeous sunsets you'll be taken back to a simpler time with this unique artwork.

The Seattle Rainiers, originally named the Seattle Indians and also known as the Seattle Angels, were a Minor League Baseball team in Seattle, Washington, that played in the Pacific Coast League from 1903 to 1906 and 1919 to 1968. They were initially named for the indigenous Native American population of the Pacific Northwest, and changed their name after being acquired by the Rainier Brewing Company, which was in turn named for nearby Mount Rainier.

Anyone who has lived in western Washington knows that water parks aren't exactly compatible with the weather, and having one open for the few months that you *may* have warm enough temps to enjoy them isn't really economically viable. While that may be the case, that didn't stop developers from building one in Issaquah, Washington back in 1984. Located at the south end of Lake Sammamish and just off I-90 in an area that is now just one ginormous business park, Waterworks Park claimed to offer more than a mile of waterslides. Built on a massive pile of excavated earth from the Mount Baker Tunnel project in Seattle, the park was sitting on an artificial mountain on land that would all too soon be too valuable, leading to its closure in 1988.

On February 1, 1988, Seattle area Top-40 station KNBQ flipped to an oldies format as “K-Best 97.3.” It picked up the KBSG-FM call letters. K-Best concentrated on the biggest hits of the ’60s, with some ’70s songs with a few late ’50s hits. As the station moved into the ’90s, the ’70s titles were increased and the ’50s songs were removed. In 2007, traded KBSG as part of a multi-market station swap. KBSG was rebranded from “KBSG 97.3” to “The New B97.3,” and dropped the word “oldies” from the station’s title. The station’s playlist was moved to more ’70s and ’80s music, with fewer ’60s titles, making it more of a classic rock format. Just one year later, the call letters would change again as the station went to an all news and talk format.

Initial logging enterprises in mid-1800s Washington State existed to supply timber to California’s Gold Rush and the population growth it precipitated. But when the Northern Pacific railroad opened a direct rail link over the Cascades to Tacoma in 1887, and with Wisconsin and Minnesota already grossly depleted by deforestation, Washington and the Pacific Northwest quickly assumed the role of primary timber supplier to the nation, ensuring the region’s rapid development as it entered the 20th century and 'Washington's toothpicks' became an increasingly common sight as loggers hauled them down the highways and byways.

From three arch rocks to amazing sunsets, Oceanside was founded as hot-spot for vacationing early in the 20th century. It was the vision of H.H. and J.H. Rosenberg who said "It would be one of the biggest and finest resorts of the Pacific Northwest. The seal rocks...will vie in fame with the nationally known 'Seal Rocks' of the Cliff House, at the Golden Gate, San Francisco." This design captures Oceanside with a retro look.

The Portland Mavericks were an independent professional baseball team based in Portland, Oregon. They began play in the short-season Class A Northwest League in 1973, after the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League left after the 1972 season and became the Spokane Indians. The Mavericks operated as an independent club in Portland for five seasons, until the return of the PCL in 1978, and played home games on artificial turf at Civic Stadium in Portland.

The first time I went to Cannon Beach the weather was awful. This was a redo that worked out great. I did not see any Pirate Ships though. LOL Cannon Beach is a small coastal city in Oregon, known for its beautiful beaches and picturesque scenery. It was named after a cannon that washed ashore from a shipwreck in the area. The city was founded in the late 19th century and quickly became a popular destination for tourists seeking a peaceful retreat by the sea. Today, Cannon Beach is famous for its iconic Haystack Rock, a large sea stack that rises from the ocean just off the shore. Neskowin, Oregon is a little known town located just north of Lincoln City. It was originally referred to by local natives as Nestugga (or Nestucca) called "Woods," the area was eventually abandoned. Neskowin as it became known means plenty of fish; reports in the early 20th century note that the waters were black because of the abundance. Settlers eventually came in 1886, when a sailing vessel filled with wheat and lumber ran aground. It remains to this day a quiet spot on the coast, largely unchanged since the early 70's. This design is a subtle reminder of where Neskowin is located.

When David J. Heerensperger took over the Pay 'N Pak, it was an eight-year-old, $15 million-a-year company. By the time the reins were passed to his successor 20 years later in 1989, he had grown Pay 'N Pak to a $400 million-a-year company. Instead of simply retiring, Heerensperger decided to start over. Just two months after resigning from Pay 'N Pak, he incorporated his new company, calling it Eagle Hardware & Garden, resurrecting the name of the hardware store he founded in Spokane in 1959. With a motto of "More of Everything," Eagle's stores were bigger than the competition, averaging 120k square feet. Heerensperger grew Eagle rapidly, taking the company public inside of two years, and by 1995, was a $650 million-a-year company.

I think based on looking at maps this shows Coldwater Lake and Clearwater Lake. As seen from Johnston's Ridge, near Mount Saint Helens, Coldwater Lake and Clearwater Lake are seen surrounded by mountains still recovering from the Mt St Helens' volcanic destruction.

I'm not 100% sure which lake this is, but I think based on looking at maps that it is either Coldwater Lake or Clearwater Lake. As seen from Johnston's Ridge, near Mount Saint Helens, a hiking path climbs towards either Coldwater Lake or Clearwater Lake through mountains still recovering from the volcano's destruction.

For a good part of the last century, Gai's Northwest Bakeries was Seattle's largest baker, supplying high-end restaurants and fast-food chains alike, as well as area grocery stores. Founded by Italian immigrant Giglio Gai in 1932, he built the business from the ground up, but his sons Phil and Henry turned it into a powerhouse. The brother's in cartoon form appeared on all of Gai's delivery trucks and in advertising, but what most Seattleites didn't know was that the cartoons depicted the Gai brothers themselves. The taller one with spectacles and chef hat was Henry, known as Mr. Inside.
