Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a walled city in colonial times, is the heart of Old Manila. It’s home to the baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church as well as Fort Santiago, a storied citadel and former military prison.

A true Filipino/Pinoy classic drink is the sanmig pale pilsen. Good for any occasion - but most especially when there’s karaoke involved. That is when the “tito jokes” (aka corny uncle jokes) come out. Inuman na, mga pare at mare!

“Chismoso” is a Filipino noun that means a male who is a gossip monger, or someone who is always up in someone’s business. This is used in the masculine sense, the feminine equivalent of which is “chismosa.”

A play on the traditional jeepney signage in the Philippines. “Para sa Pilipinas” translates to “For The Philippines.” “Para” is also the word used by jeepney riders to signal to the driver that they have reached their stop and would want to get off the vehicle. So this whole phrase is as Filipino pop culture as it gets.
